Jul 27, 2020 08:37PM ● By Sabrina Forse

They've been helping clothe up to 650 children in need from head-to-toe every year for the past twenty years. Now, the Junior League of San Angelo is partnering with the Children's Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas to expand their outreach.  "We're known for incubating projects and growing them to the point that another organization can take over," said Amanda Bragg, President, Junior League of San Angelo.  The Student Closest is a year-round program that help purchase new clothes for school age children. "New clothing can help children feel like they fit in. When they have new clothes that don't have holes in them, they can feel more self-confident and do better in school," said Bragg.

Last fall, the Junior League of San Angelo presented the Children's Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas with a check for $29,000. The money is being used to help build the new Junior League of San Angelo Family Resource Center at the new Children's Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas headquarters. The Family Resource Center will house not only the Student Closet but will offer families a store-like atmosphere where they can receive clothes, shoes, basic household essentials, school supplies, toys, baby care kits and more. "This felt like a natural fit for the Student Closet," said Bragg. The new Family Resource Center is set to open in the coming months but it's temporarily being housed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas,317 Koberlin.
