5 DIY Mother's Day gifts

Mother's Day is Sunday,  May 9, but don't fret! We have you covered with ideas that you can make (with or without your kiddo), even if you aren't the crafty type.

Succulent planters
Transform plastic recyclables into a lovely collection of rustic succulent planters. You just need twine and decoupage glue. Your mom can display her succulents on a sunny windowsill, desk, or bedside table, and she’ll think of you every time she looks at them. Even better? Succulents are among the easiest plants to grow.

Love book

What better way to make a mother (or grandmother) smile than with a love book? All you need is some card stock or craft paper for the “pages” and a metal ring or ribbon to hold it together. Simply have your little ones write down or tell you what they love about the recipient and decorate the pages. This gift likely won't even require a trip to the store.

Happy mothers day

Decorated flower pot

Give an old pot new life for Mom. Add a couple of coats of chalk paint and decorate with gem stickers once the paint is dry. There is no right or wrong way to do this; just have fun with it! Note that the pots are for decoration only and should not be planted because they aren't weatherproof. Instead, slip a potted plant inside of the bedazzled pot.

Craft stick sign

Popsicle or craft sticks are a versatile and inexpensive crafting medium. Use them to make a sweet sign to let a Mom know how appreciated she is. If you don't have time to paint, buy some inexpensive colorful craft sticks.

Vase

Any mom will marvel at the resourcefulness of this upcycled plastic jar-turned vase. Paint a clean plastic jar in her favorite color and use washi tape and ribbon to decorate. To go the extra mile, place the vase on a tray when you bring her breakfast in bed.
