Dia de los Muertos, Spanish for Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday observed Nov. 1-2 that honors loved ones who have passed away. According to Wikipedia, although it is associated with Catholic celebrations like All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, it has a decidedly less solemn, mournful tone and is instead a joyful celebration of lives.
